A Cumbrian nursery was absolutely delighted to maintain its outstanding Ofsted grade following a recent inspection. 

Ivegill Nursery, Carlisle, was last visited by Ofsted in April 2018 when it was rated outstanding in all areas. 

In March 2024, the school was visited again and the adjudicator came to the same conclusion, commending the early years setting for its superb provision, leadership and safeguarding. 

The report writes: "Children are cherished in the very caring and inclusive nursery. They arrive excited to share their news from home. Staff use these opportunities exceptionally well to extend children's learning.

"Children's emotional well-being is paramount and exceptionally well supported by staff. Staff consistently support children to develop the knowledge and skills they require to behave well and display positive attitudes towards learning.

"The leadership and management of the nursery is inspirational. The whole team is dedicated and passionate about providing a high-quality, nurturing provision where all children thrive. The management team has an excellent overview of the nursery and is extremely ambitious in their quest to be even better. As a result, children have outstanding opportunities to learn and achieve extremely well across all areas of learning.

"The curriculum is implemented exceptionally well. This includes stimulating activities that captivate children's interests to move their learning forward.

"The curriculum for personal development is highly effective. Children have a wealth of opportunities to develop their independence and learn how to stay healthy."

The nursery was also commended for its commitment to literacy, sports and the curriculum, while the partnership with parents is also described as 'superb'. 

The Trustees of Ivegill Nursery said: “We are delighted that Ofsted has recognised what a special place Ivegill Nursery is; and we would like to thank all of the staff who work so hard for the children in their care, with unfailing enthusiasm and commitment."
