A Carlisle teen has amassed over 1000 followers on TikTok from her videos cleaning soldiers’ gravestones for free.
15-year-old Mia Pratt from Carlisle started doing it a month ago, using simple products bought from B&Q.
She cleans military gravestones, and sometimes the gravestones of civilians, and uploads videos of herself to the social media platform.
“I do it because someone could be disabled, or not be able to visit, to do it, or they might not be able to afford it; it can cost anywhere between £50 and £100 (for professional cleaning),” she said.
“I’m a cadet myself, and everyone in my family up until the end of World War II have been in the military, I just think it’s really sad when you go and you can’t see their names.
The feedback has been positive, as she explained: “I’ve had loads of positive comment on Facebook, and a lot of people have messaged me.
“I’ll always do this, and the main part for me is it being free – people don’t realise how expensive it is, I just want to let people know I can do it for free,” she added.
She said anyone wanting a gravestone cleaned can ask her via her Facebook profile – Mia Pratt.
