POLICE are investigating a report of an attempted burglary of a residential property in Aglionby, Carlisle.

The occurred between 10pm on Thursday May 2 and 8am on Friday May 3 2024.

Cumbria Police said: "We would like to hear from you if you saw anything suspicious in the area or have any CCTV, doorbell camera or dashcam footage which may be relevant to this case."

The police also issued guidance alongside the appeal to protect homes, they said "burglary or attempts to burgle from a person’s home can have significant impacts on the victim and wider community."

There are steps you can consider to help prevent such offences, they include:

  • Ensure your house is secure, preventing someone entering when you are busy elsewhere in the house or garden.
  • Lock doors and windows before you go out. Remove keys from locks and keep out of reach of windows and doors.
  • Consider installing security cameras.
  • Consider fitting a burglar alarm, checking regularly to ensure they work.
